Our History

First Assembly Christian School was founded as a part of the ministry of First Assembly Worship Center in 1976. The school began out of a desire to assist the members of the church in the education of their children. It was an immediate success and continued to grow. In 1988 there were approximately 500 students in the school. The school was located at Rockland Circle even though the Worship Center was relocated to its present location in 1978. The Educational Center was not completed until 1988, and the school was relocated to its present location at that time. The school had had steady growth and presently numbers 675.

FACS serves a diversified population. Presently, over 130 churches are represented within the student body. The students come from many towns and cities such as Concord, Kannapolis and Charlotte. Also many counties such as Cabarrus, Rowan, Iredell, Mecklenburg, Stanley and Union are represented within the student body.

The administration and pastoral leadership believe that encouraging the admission of students from other areas and backgrounds is a strategy for ministering to as many people as possible, and teaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the multitudes. The students who enroll at First Assembly Christian School receive an excellent well-rounded education.

The strong curriculum produces a solid Academic foundation so that a student can succeed if he/she later decides to return to public school or graduates and goes on to the college of his or her choice. Many scholarships have been received by students at leading colleges. The annual Arts presentations showcase the Visual Arts, Drama, Chorus, and Band opportunities available to FACS students. The athletic program houses 30 athletic teams from the Middle School to High School. Conference championships in Middle School, JV and Varsity Boys Basketball in ’09 and Varsity Football Conference and State Championships highlight the FACS athletic program. FACS also believes that students must be equipped spiritually to cope with the problems of life and know the One to whom they should turn and depend upon. Therefore, all studies rely on Biblical integration and a Biblical worldview grid. Christ-centered excellence in academics, arts and athletics is in constant pursuit.

FACS has had an effect on the intellectual, social, and emotional climate of its area of the world. A Christian environment is a major contributor to righteousness and the retaining of principles and values. FACS believes that the way to create change in the world is to begin with the youth. It is not FACS’s desire to fill student’s minds with propaganda, or that students should bow to any special demands that FACS would make upon them. It is the desire to teach them about Jesus, how He walked on the earth, and left the mandate that we should be His witnesses in Jerusalem, Samaria and uttermost parts of the earth. FACS believes this means our mission is to teach in the place where we find ourselves. The mission field is located in Concord, NC. He has said that if we lift Him up He will draw all men unto Himself.

Thousands of young people have been touched through the ministry and prayers of the dedicated teachers and staff of FACS. Students have been educated in a way that will enable them to be blessed and be a blessing. More importantly, they have also been instructed in the Way that will enable them to inherit eternal life.

The way to bless and change a nation is through the youth of that nation. For this reason we continue to strive for Christ-centered excellence in Academics, Arts and Athletics…Declaring God’s power to the next generation…one student at a time!
